Rollo: I feel sorry for the guys on the CHARLOTTE BOBCATS-- They are the losing-est team in the NBA. Sluggo: Don't they get to play basketball everyday and get paid for it? Rollo: Well, yes-- Sluggo: And don't we have to finish all our home-work every-day for nothin'-- And then maybe get to play at recess? Rollo: Yes. Good points, Sluggo. Sluggo: Make 'em do our home-work--- Then you can feel sorry for them.

I think the obscene salaries happen because there are virtual monopolies on basketball or football leagues. If some investors want to set up a separate LEAGUE to actually compete with the NBA, salaries would be more evened out. Yes there are lesser leagues, but to compete with the NBA at the national level… good luck with that. Sure, at the beginning, the salaries would be low, but the opportunities for talent to sign up and participate in a competing big league would be great; new talent would start to go there, and the salaries between the two would be more competitive. And the fan comes out ahead!

That is the reason I have stopped watching ALL “pro” sports(?). NBA, MLB, NFL, NASCAR, NCAA, (Yeah they get paid, it’s called a scholaship) and on and on and on and…
NOBODY is worth 4 or 5 million dollars a year!

After the debacle with the Bobcats getting the arena in the first place, I don’t have the slightest sympathy for them.

And these zillionaire owners work it so the stupid local politicians pay them to get an arena in town or build it for them.
