Here’s the first cut of Ray Thomas (Moody Blues) solo album Hopes Wishes and Dreams which seems appropriate for today’s comic. I’ve always loved this album but somehow never got the digital version. I need to fix that now that I’m reminded of it. There are links to several other cuts in the related stuff on the right.
Yikes… as closely as I can remember, the exact sentence in this comic was printed on a coffee mug I was given about 20 years ago, by someone trying to recruit me to sell Amway.

I went to that college instead of the other college, I took that job instead of the other job. I married that guy instead of the other guy. Dreams start and end in those pivotal moments. Sigh…
Regarding AMWAY: A friend of mine (a fellow engineer) quit his job for an outfit called KOSCOT (Cosmetics for the consumers of tomorrow…named after EPCOT). He tried to recruit me with these magnificent numbers. Now, engineers are supposed to understand numbers; so we sat down and did the math. We calculated that at the growth rate they promised, in one month every single person in Florida would be a KOSCOT sales person, and within two months ever single person in the USA would be a KOSCOT sales person. He agreed with the math, but said that he’d be an exception. A year later he was back being an engineer. (Truth is, it’s a Ponzie scheme just like Amway and others. The early birds make some money, but by the time it gets to us peasants there ain’t no worms left.
I have a short but eclectic list of comics, and they are very hard to prioritize. I chose one for the contest, which is probably my favorite, but all the others come in second.
