Technically, that’s “equality of the sexes.” But I wanted to just jump in and say how much I enjoy this strip! Yesterday’s “smurf” was truly memorable. Please keep it up!
I am perfectly capable of changing a tyre but one summer day I sat in a 100 degree car waiting for AAA because I did NOT want to ruin one of my favourite dresses.
I know how to change a tire. I even know how to compensate for the deficiency of upper body strength. But I have never had a flat tire occur when I wasn’t dressed to the nones, and generally in light colors. The high heels alone are counterproductive enough. Hey, that’s what roadside assistance is for.
I’ve changed many tires over the course of my life and not once have I had a lug nut come loose becuase I’m a woman. Yes, sometimes it’s harder to get them loose if the guy really tightened ‘em with the air drill. The tire is heavy but I found a way that works for me to help get the dumb thing mounted without much trouble. It’s called the floor jack. Raise the foot of the jack to where you need it and roll the tire onto it move close to the bolts and slide that bad boy on. Done. If you have tools, use them. My floor jack isn’t full size and stores nicely behind the seat of my small truck. I also keep work gloves so my hands don’t get dirty. Not paying money for stuff I can do myself.
