Am up (on CST) only because it’s so freakin’ hot and the pool was just inviting. Besides; the goofballs set off fireworks to rival the City’s at the park a block away. Chillin’ with a bit of Rum and Coke…..now off to bed.

Alas, poor Jerry. He has reached the age where he must obey the law—the Law of Gravity, that is! That massive chest has slipped somewhat. Join the club, boy. Out of sympathy we probably shouldn’t reveal what else has sagged.

Back to yesterday, I am troubled by our heated discussions with acesover. Obviously he was the odd man out but it seems unfortunate that there was so much choler about patriotism and beyond on the day we celebrate our freedom.Acesover has a point regarding unnecessary wars. We now know that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was not real, and did we really have to invade Grenada? Really? Iraq didn’t have any WMD. We invaded Afghanistan looking for Al-Qaeda and OBL. We didn’t invade either Pakistan or Saudi Arabia where the actual money and people came from. Our military budget is bigger than most other countries in the world combined. Really? To aces credit when his country called, he answered. He had a bad experience and he has earned the right to his opinion. (Unlike a former VP who famously had “other priorities,” but had no problem drumming up wars for other young people to fight.)Most of us don’t agree with aces opinion, but he deserves our respect.

I forgot! The Higgs boson is real to a 5-sigma level. This is exciting stuff. I just wish I could get my mind around Quantum Mechanics and Parallel Universes for more than 37 seconds at a time. I have a nephew who does and he seems almost normal.

Time for the post 4th holiday sales. Nothing like having an attic full of fireworks ready for New Years Eve.

sigh. 4th of july. the day you mow the lawn, sleep late, and cremate food outdoors, between the 3rd and 5th. but only for a tiny percentage of the planet’s population. somehow, tho, watching the morons with their own fireworks show burn down their garage was really patriotic. ;D

I only went out to do groceries (Weds. is double sale day at my store) but they had no seeded rye of thier artisan loaves, and I did not want a whole loaf of other, and they had none of my G&B chocolate in Expresso, so I bought 2 of plain 70%.I did no outdoor activities- really prefer fireworks at great distance (no air pollution or noise). @Travis- modern sizes have changed to flatter people -dress sizes that used to be 8, 10, 12 are now 2, 4 and 6, and a D cup is average (I think, because I’d never consider myself large-keeping weight 120-125).
