Bram Stoker’s widow sued the producers of “Nosferatu” for plagiarism and won. All copies of the movie were ordered to be destroyed, but at least one survived.
I don’t see how these books are in competition. One is classic horror, the other teen romance. Two extremely different genres that market to two different consumer groups. It’s like saying Bach’s primary competitor is the Backstreet Boys (I know the Backstreet Boys don’t exist anymore, but I’m not up-to-date on my boy bands).
At the risk of opening myself up to flames, I couldn’t get into Bram Stoker’s Dracula (the book, not the movie). It was kind of slow moving, as was Frankenstein. Maybe I got ruined by the movies. But I like Wilkie Collins, Jules Verne and others.
I’ve had a successful Dracula Society for many years and one of the many things we are appreciated for is having a sense of humor in regard to Dracula, vampires and undeads in general. In other words, we love this cartoon! Jeanne

Nosferatu uses the anonymity of the web to besmirch his more illustrious competitor!

I like the modern laptop vs the use of candlelight. Conflict of energy sources here.
