How do you do it? How do you write for kids? The secret to all great children's fiction is to construct a narrative that operates on two levels!... One for children, one for adults. You see, in my story, Ms. Kitty has lost her magic thermos... A dilemma even a very young child could appreciate... And of course, for adults, there's the subplot where Mr. Winky tries to refinance his FHA adjustable rate mortgage.

Ms. Kitty? Is Monty copping his tale from some old Gunsmoke episode?

Monty seems to know all the rules for children’s fiction. He makes his character believable. I think he’ll do just fine.
