Not heard that. Usually, a sorbet is served after the entree for that purpose.

And here the U.S. has the trouble with the weighty issues. I wonder if someone tried to tackle the issue by proposing to put the salad before the meal to fill up? Then they added the dressings, bacon bits, croutons, cheese, etc….:P

I always eat my vegetables first because I prefer them warm, unless they’re supposed to be raw. I prefer vegetables to meat, anyway.

Salad greens aid digestion, which is why they’re served last. Or, if you’re into nutrient density, it should be the main course!

We always have salad last and it is well worth the wait, with a variety of greens, veggies, fruit, nuts, cheese and homemade salad dressing.

Actually the salad was eaten last to help to clear the esophagus and help digestion, or so i was told.

I was under the impression that salad was served last so that the roughage could push the rest of the food through the system.
