Some private schools aren’t much better (if any better) than public schools anyway.

Are you speaking from experience? I doubt your stats. The bottom line is it just depends on what flavor kool-aid you get forced down your throat. Show me an institution that teaches free thinking. Probably not good for your child either. Free thinking like free speech is not looked upon favorably by those in power and likely to be in power. Better if they are automatons spouting the state rhetoric. Here is some reading material for you: Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Animal Farm, and for you sci-fi fans, Mission Earth series. The things in those books will never really happen, though, will they? Heck, they are happening now.

I went to a Catholic school thru ninth grade. Not much religion at all. About the only difference from public school was Latin in ninth grade. You could opt out and go to the public high school for shop classes. I had auto mechanics instesd of latin.

    Welcome Back by John Sebastian

Welcome back, Your dreams were your ticket out.

Welcome back, To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around, But those dreams have remained and they’re turned around.

Who’d have thought they’d lead ya (Who’d have thought they’d lead ya) Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we’ve hot him on the spot, welcome back, Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

My children and I all have top 1% IQ’s. I attended public school and was never challenged, so I was ill prepared for college. My son attended a private school for intelligent children through 9th grade and has a masters degree. My daughter attended public school. While she wasn’t challenged either, she has a masters degree. A good private school can help, but some students can succeed without it.
