My cousin once made an entire castle out of cardboard, popsicle sticks, etc. Mice did it in when they discovered the towers were just painted Captain Crunch cereal glued to a paper towel roll.
Years ago an elderly lady made me a wonderful pincushion…a finely crocheted teacup in pink thread with little flowers attached, stiffened with “special starch”, and topped with an embroidered silk puff, all stuffed with cotton.
It looked antique, but I watched her work on it.
A few days after I brought it home, that whole shelf was swarming with ants. There was a highway down the wall, and the teacup itself was completely covered in them.
I did the only thing I could think of quickly … I threw it in a pail of soapy water…
The crochet softened, I had to take it all apart and throw away the ruined stuffing…there were ants inside too…
I never told her…but I did ask about the “starch.”…it was very thick boiled sugar syrup.Don’t do that.

That line reminded me of a funny Monty Python skit. Watch and enjoy.

The artwork looks like the old school Kool-Aid smiling face.
