I had a bird feeder like this once. It had a seesaw mechanism on the seed tray, so that if something too heavy sat on the perch, it would drop a baffle down over the seed and the bird couldn’t get to it.
It didn’t take long for the birds to figure out teamwork. One would sit on the back side of the feeder on the other half of the seesaw, so that another bird could sit on the front perch and eat. When the one in the back got impatient, it would fly over to the front, push the eating bird out of the way, and that bird would fly to the back and keep the seesaw down so that its buddy could eat. It was fascinating to watch!
