Transcript:
Arlo: "We planted it when we moved in."
Arlo: "Gene asked when he could climb it. He pretended to faint when we told him!"
Arlo: Depressing, isn't it?
Janis: No, it's not depressing!
Arlo: Well, depressing in a comforting sort of way!
It is big! My wife asked me to plant an apple tree in my yard in 1973. I told her we wouldn’t be there long enough to see any apples. We sold that house in 2005. Always listen to your wife!
A lady I worked with was moving and asked would I take a small, tree she rescued from IBM . I took it planted it .now overshadows the whole back yard. Around1982. I hope Marion J. Sees this.

I’m guessing the one Arlo planted is a box elder. Or else Gene is way older than I think he is.

Or poplar. Or hickory. Or…lots of them grow quite rapidly. Our ten year old hickory is taller than our house.
