My dad was a factory worker and didn’t make over $10,000/yr until sometime around 1965. He always carried a lot of money around as he dealt strictly in “cash”. In the early 60’s his boss was asking a group of workers if anyone had change for $100 and my dad said, “I do.” He later admitted it was a mistake to let the boss know he was that flush.
