Yeah got second son a hamster when he was 5 or 6 – forgetting that Lassie would be awake when he was asleep. Until one night when the wheel was silent and Lassie was feet up. Second son was, and still is, a slow riser. We worried about how to break the news to him. Eventually after some cereal and Kapitan Kangaroo we told him that Lassie “was no more.” His was response was “Let’s get another one.” When we said “well that wouldn’t be fair to Lassie’s memory.” To which he replied “She won’t know.”

The only ones I have ever heard being used were used during night time hours. Obviously these two rodents are not nocturnal.

What kind of hamster doesn’t use its treadmill. My hamster, Arthur, woke me up at night spinning madly on his. Hamsters are soooo cute.
