When we lived on the Gulf Coast of Texas, Hurricane Ike not only knocked out electricity, but we didn’t have cell phone service for awhile, either. Our trusty landline allowed us to call loved ones, plus our insurance company immediately. We still have a landline as a backup because it doesn’t rely on electricity or wifi.
