Actually, there apparently a large number of people who really believe the weather forecasters actually create the weather they predict. So yes, big guy, stress.
There have been instances here where the weather guy (or gal) get into arguments with people that believe they actually have the power to change the weather!!!
The TV meteorologists do catch a lot of criticism when they miss the mark on a forecast. It does not happen quite as often now as it did in earlier decades due to advances in modelling, satellites, other climatological techniques, knowledge of the jetstream and Doppler radar.
Back in the ’70s as a kid I recall the local meteorologists were not spot on accurate with their forecasting, usually it was not a big deal but I remember one instance where my Dad and a lot of the neighbors got upset during the winter when the TV weatherman predicted that the greater Tampa Bay area would avoid a freeze, temps would stay between 35 and 40 depending how far from the Gulf you were, guy even said you could mitigate any frost by turning on your sprinklers if you had them. He was off by about 10 degrees so a lot of people ended up icing their yards with above said sprinklers. While icing certain plants such as strawberries is a method to protect the fruit in the case of a hard freeze, it can also damage a lot of the bushes, plants and the more cold sensitive palm trees that many people planted in their yards….. Truth is even the NWS was caught off guard on that instance as the front they were watching accelerated instead of stalling down around Miami like most did and so the skies cleared out and the winds came staright out of the north and died in the early morning, setting up a perfect example of radiational cooling and a hard freeze for many. Nowadays the NWS is much more accurate at forecasting and can pin point a temperature gradient from street to street.
Blame on the orbit and rotation of the Earth. They fill with viewers travel pictures, Almanac quotations and Dad jokes. Round it off with plenty of chuckles and banter with the anchors.

It seems silly that the weather person has so much air time when there’s nothing going on.

Weather is atrociously local that forecasts should come with EPA-like warnings: “your experience may be different”
