We have a cat flap, but ol’ tubs is too fat to go through it. When he comes out, the entire door swings with him. (And Bear, we don’t allow any of our furkids in the bedroom at night.)
I had a catflap, and at night I’d slide the ottoman in front of it to keep the cats in and the outdoors out. When they got big enough, the cats learned they could slide it out of the way themselves, and so let themselves out at 6AM instead of bothering me— worked out well for all. Except that one time they caught a bird and brought it in, alive, while I was trying to sleep. They let it go in the bedroom.
