Dad: Alice, tonight is New Year's Eve. You know what that is? Alice: Uh-huh. Dad: When I was little, on New Year's Eve we'd go out at midnight and shout "Happy New Year" and bang pot lids together! Do you want to do that? Mom says it's okay to wake you up for it. Alice: Uh-huh. Daddy's trying to involve me in a criminal activity. Petey: Call 911!
Simply shouting and banging lids after dark might be a welcomed relief in many of today’s neighborhoods.
