Petey: Should I wear this costume or not? Mom: You should wear it, but you might confuse people. Petey: That's okay. I don't really even like Halloween candy. Mom: Well, there you go. Petey: Except I like candy corn because it tastes like wax. Alice: I like eating wax, but only in crayon form.
As an Old Guy, I remember the little wax “bottles” filled with sweet syrupy stuff that we used to buy at the candy store (yes, there were whole stores specializing in cheap candies, comic books, and ice cream-products-in-a-freezer). We called it chewing wax; it could be chewed until it hardened, became brittle, and was disposed of. I never liked candy corn much.
