Petey: Don't touch that! Kitchen sponges are the germiest things in this house! Alice: Germs? Petey: GERMS. Those teeny-weeny little dirty things. Petey: Millions and millions of them! Petey: Blows your mind, huh? Alice: Mom, can I take a really really long bath for the rest of my life?

Dill is a germ! Or a germ is Dill! Millions and millions of him/them/“little dirty things”! Alice, is that really what you think of your future husband?

This strip allows me to comment on something that I’ve often wondered about: Why do most people use sponges in the kitchen when they could wash dishes with those donut-shaped scrubbers made from plastic filaments? Those scrubbers dry out quickly, don’t stink (unless you use them to wash something really gross, and haven’t (as far as I’ve seen) been implicated as causing death and destruction. Of course, it’s hard to find them. I have to go to ACE Hardware or somewhere esoteric that happens to carry them.
The little Dills would hate them.
