1969. Peterborough Ontario. My first day in a new school. Wearing glasses that looked like they were home made. That no name girl is me. Wound up ok.

This is definitely created so you really see poor Sophie all by herself

Alice has her own agenda, never mind wha the teacher is teaching. Alice knows better! But she doesn’t know the new kid!

I love how RT really “gets” the kid mentality— they’re in their own world, with their own priorities and focus.

Went to a one room school, all eight grades, just 6 of us. Then one year a couple of new families moved into the area and we had 8 new kids all at once. Very interesting year. Our previous bullies had some trouble getting used to a new pecking order.

Poor Alice. No fish-slapping bears.

Fun camp activities. Trying to catch Grizzlies while they’re eating.

We moved often so I was always the new kid. Fortunately for my little sisters as they did not have to face teachers that had endured ME.

Miss Bliss should have had everyone introduce and tell a little something about them selves. i can only iimagine the story the new girl told HER mom about her first day at camp. i hope day 2 is better than day 1.

Gotta bring along some brook trout for bait.

If only Alice had that huge ugly fountain installed in her yard, she could lure the fish slapping bears over for lunch.
