    Good thing Alice is all of about 33 pounds and easily whisked away for a bath. Can you imagine all that unfettered emotion in a grown up body? Shudder….

    Alas, even the best of Moms (viz., Madeline) doesn’t understand Artistic Anguish! Poor Alice, soon to be as clean as a whistle.

    Don’t know how Beni happened to hit upon Herman Melville’s alleged aversion to bathing. But Dill, in any case, remains befuddled by it all. —Aren’t we sometimes like Dill?
