I don’t recall EVER asking my parents for money. Ever since I was able, I earned it. Early age, my brother and I picked up scrap iron, copper and aluminum. A little later, and early in the summer, I picked blackberries. Picked all day and them sold them that evening. Eighty-five cents a gallon. This was during the late 50’s and early 60’s. Then, I went to work at a service station for 25 cents an hour. Ten hour days for $2.50. When I graduated from high school I went into the Marine Corps. That started at $78 per month. After that I went to work for $100 per week as a collector for a loan company. Nope, I don’t remember ever asking for one dime.
