News flash: Trees are a renewable resource. We grow more to replace the ones that go into construction. But don’t tell anybody ’cause it makes tree huggers go into convulsions. Certain cartoonists also.
It’s all about marketing. They figure if they name a street after a tree and therefore raise happy images you’ll ignore the acid-spewing factory next door to the house you’re thinking of buying.
The problem is it takes a long time for a tree to grow; so, yeah, we might be replacing them, but how big are they? Also, it’s true about the street names. My street is called Applewood, and the next street is called Ashwood!

Why DO you humans name so many streets after trees, anyway?

No, they are telling what happened to the trees,(the) Spruce (went a)way (the elm) st(ayed away) Or they might have felt guilty….

We’re nostalgic about trees and name our streets after them. I personally love trees and am thankful for the good they do!
