Here in the Atlanta area one can determine whether school is in session by the volume of traffic on the interstate. No, it does not make sense, but it is an excellent gauge; if the average interstate speeds are below 30 mph at 6:30 AM, school is in session.
One of the local districts is going to start school two weeks earlier next year so the first semester ends before Christmas break. No coming back in January for finals. They also will cut summer break to two months and give an entire week off for Thanksgiving and one other time.

Yup. Tuesday morning. But for the first time, I didn’t have to do a thing about it. Our kids have now all left for college.
