Nope, Mythbusters thought that too, and they found out that the floating door could actually have carried both of them without sinking, when they were careful. Then they added the life jacket one of the two in the movie was wearing to the door, to keep it afloat, and they had no problems at all. So basically Jack died for nothing.
He dies?!? – Now you’ve spoiled it for me, thank you very much!
Seriously: Decades after Episodes 4-6 of the “Starwars”-movies, when they were shown again, younger people didn’t know anything about certain relationships between the protagonists…
Ok well, after Jack died, Rose heard the guy in the lifeboat yelling “Is anyone still alive out there!” Her voice was too weak to call out so she got off the door and swam to some guy who had a whistle around his neck. Though she had no voice she had enough air to blow the whistle and catch his attention. Would the guy have seen them if she hadn’t blown the whistle, probably not. At any rate I cried when Jack died and that’s what Mr. Cameron wanted.

Seriously you would think it would be that simple. But maybe she was to exhausted and weak to lift him out with all those wet and freezing cloths???

He does try to get on it with her, but the headboard is too heavy. With a frightened look, he lowers himself back into the water. Watch it and see

I found out that drinking a 32oz. drink and watching water gush for over 2 hours can cause some discomfort.

I have often wondered the same thing.

Because James Cameron wrote it into the script. I don’t know why this is so hard.

I didn’t see that version. The version I have was made in 1952.
