Now who puts a lamp under a bookshelf?
OK – that’s the different strip I was referring to yesterday. The QotD remains the same:
Tony asked
Do you listen?
Yes, Tony; I do. Better get your story straight. Or a good lawyer.
I kinda thought “Do you listen” also went well with yesterday’s strip…
Got here too late to comment, though.
I do listen, and I’ve never heard any kid’s parents advise against doing what he’s told.
My Dad always said “Do as I say, not as I _do.”_ …. the grownups’ cop-out for their own misbehavior…
but sorry, Tony…. there’s no cop-out for bad instruction.
Then again, this isn’t a case of bad instruction….
putting things away is good instruction.
What’s bad, or in this case, wimpy and ineffective parenting,
is letting the kid manipulate you into blaming your own teaching, when he was obviously careless.
Peter is one of those modern “with it” parents so eager to be pals that they hesitate to enforce behavior.
Elliott is basically a nice boy… he’s been taught, by example, to evade responsibility by swift maneuvering….
and to use flippant and sarcastic comebacks.
Luckily the whole family shares a good sense of humor, and they’re all funny.
After all, that’s how you get to star in a comic strip.
Duh!!! No!!!
What?
Only when I want to hear what’s being said.
I told you once
No you haven’t
Yes I have
When?
Just now
No you didn’t
I’m telling you I did
