Wow….. a half K. Think he can make it? That’s just under a third of a mile, 3 1/2 blocks…. maybe a minute for a world class runner?3 minutes walking fast, 6 minutes at a pretty slow amble……. 12 minutes for the really out of shape……. 20 minutes for Burl after that bag of burgers and chips. Oh, wait. He’s going TO the race. Nobody said he’s entering.
Yep, Burl’s first—in line for food! You’re right, Susan, no one said he entered, just that he’s going TO the 2 minute race. I think he has enough food for that.
I’ve heard of half marathons, but 1/2 K marathons…now that’s something! Maybe Jerry has entered, and Burl wants to watch in person rather than sitting home watching on TV. (“1/2 K Marathon On Ice”)
Wow! The NEW heights of crude/lazy behavior that Burl finds to indulge in!!! As an able-bodied (albeit somewhat roly-poly) middle-aged adult, it is insulting (in my opinion, anyway) for Burl to use a scooter… they are designed for people who have physical limitations. To use a scooter, when you are ABLE to walk seems insulting to the people who need them for their mobility. Adding to it that Burl is going to “run” a 0.5K (haha!) race (marathon… haha!) by driving the scooter. Julie… this is a perfect, new classic Dinette Set. You have set the bar even higher in regards to your biting comic satire of suburban foibles.
Um…. not quite. I wish, though!Julie commented in this forum, using the name Emmmie, yesterday about the duplication, and a day or so before that, about Joy’s blouses. That’s what I was thanking her for.I could swear the comments didn’t post at the times they say, but were only visible later. I may be wrong.I’ve posted info a time or two from thedinetteset.com, a pretty outdated website. You can also reach Julie’s Facebook page by clicking the small banner on the right.I can read it, but not post, as I’m not on Facebook.I’ve never mentioned being on or having a blog. I’ve thought about it, but it’s like tossing a pingpong ball into a vast ocean. Can’t believe it would ever be seen.
I had a cold call from someone who interrupted my weight lifting workout to tell me that I qualified for a free motorized chair. I’ll be 74 in September but I keep very fit (if a little flabby) and my weight is about the same as my wedding. I have a friend who bought one on Ebay to use at museums, but I feel I can use the walking for excersize on days that I don’t do my workout-he is also a little overweight.

Mikie — besides, he can always stop on the way for another burger. No need to even get out of his chair.

Do you really cal that a marathon? I go on longer walks. And they all look like they should go some long brisk walks.
