I wanna say that it looks like Verl’s gonna stay as a class two data entry clerk. Good for Burl to get a thesaurus for those hard-to-understand two-syllable words. Words to live by, Eschew obfuscation!" I don’t know how this is going to effect her and Dale, but I remember that Dale was taking some unpaid time off recently, so I guess his pay raise and bonus are out of the question this year.

Good morning all; you too, Miltie!

Hiya Marg, and Leaky and the rest of Crustwood when 0you arrive —

Yeah, I’d pick Burl to proofread, wouldn’t you?

Especially with Joy finding him some big ol’ 2-syllable words to put in, and make me sound even more smarter.

See, I’m never sure whether there’s a… a…. postrofy in words like “doncha”…. and a person sounds awful darn stupid if their wrong.

    Aaaaghhh….

Anyhow Burl doesn’t need “Hooked on Foniks” — he needs something to teach him NOT to spell phonetically..

No chance at the Pennys that the mouse will turn out to be a computer mouse, is there.

Joy’s blouse has no orange flowers, but at least all the finials are present,

Our pals are safe in their own comfy little world…. where ignorance, if not bliss, is at least a good cushion from reality.

BTW, as a retail manager I saw applications that would make Verl sound like a genius.

    One favorite:

Under “reason for leaving” each of her previous jobs, the applicant had helpfully written “Manger fired me. Too slow.” (sic)

Ya gotta give her some kinda credit for trying again….

She’ll will probabilly get the promotion as she has the time in service. Mikie2 Verl isn’t married to Dale by the way. The charm of these people is that they think they are brighter then most people. I have relatives like this. My luck they are across the country.

The boss won’t need help in writing the response. Nobody misspells that two-letter word.

Today’s strip IS good because so typical of the Penny gang. Susan’s applications sound verrry interesting, but … and I agree Burl shoud not learn phonics – but he’s seen commercials for it, so it must be a good thing, right?

As a professional editor, I am pained by both the cartoon and the comments. I know Julie is kidding. I wish I could be sure about all the Crustwoodians.

I’m pretty new to the comment section, but I’ve noticed for years now, those deadly finials on the chairs….and everyday I read DS to see how they can muck things up…again. I sure enjoy reading everyone’s comments! Thanks!

I am a little confused here, perhaps someone can help me. I saw thesaurus mentioned a few times.

Was the thesaurus from the Triassic or the Jurassic periods?

I wish there was a book that I could look up other names for stuff.

Note: I left a comment yesterday, actually a joke. I see it was removed. Probably because I used a word. I tried to cover it by replacing the S‘s with $’s. it was followed by hole. I guess that wasn’t hidden enough. I iwll tell the story again sometime, but it really fit with yesterday’s cartoon.
