Burl probably has his eyes closed so the kids can’t see him.

Wow! There’s hope for the future of Crustwood! The kids DO know the difference between Burl and… um… normal people.I wonder whether Timmy hears it discussed at school…. and whether he defends Burl, and also his grandpa,or joins in the laughter.

    G’morning, friends.

I thought for a moment there was a “4” hanging over Burl’s head, but I guess it’s a loose squiggle.I suppose he thinks he’s so svelte he can hide behind that enormous tree trunk.

If my little dog knew she’d done something naughty, or just thought she was in trouble, she’d stand very still and squinch her eyes shut tightly., (Her previous owners didn’t train her, and then punished her a lot.)Took me ages to realise she thought I couldn’t see her, motionless and with her eyes closed.Burl is no smarter than a schipperke, I’m sure.

Usually IS a problem with grown ups who want to play with children other than their own. And Joy has her GBWOF today again.

leaky, BITE YOUR TONGUE! I love football too, but for the football season to come, summer has to end. It hasn’t even started yet and will fly by when it gets here. As much as I love football, I’ll take summer over football anytime! :-D

Your schipperke is WAY smarter than Burl, I’m sure. And not to take away from your dear little dog, but a lamp post is smarter than Burl! LOL!

Dry - right with you on the summertime! Here in northern CA we have mostly gorgeous summer weather, though sometimes too many cloudy days to suit my tomatoes, and sometimes a few scorching weeks here and there….I’d be so unhappy if I couldn’t grow tomatoes at all.In fact they produce best in September and October, so I try not to let them hear anyone say that summer is over till about mid-November. As for my beloved little schipperke (14 pounds of trouble, as schipperke owners are wont to say), alas, I was speaking in the past tense. It’s been more than ten years. But that doesn’t mean you’re not right about the lamp post!

Dave — as I’m sure you know, they’re not his parents.Sometimes I wonder what his parents are like.Does his father worry about how much time his son spends with HIS parents, ie Timmy’s grandparents,Marlene and Dale….or did that apple already fall too close to the tree?

Leaky….. somebody has to tell you….I know it’s hard to hear….but there ARE places where summer isn’t like it is on the gulf…places where the sun shines without malice, and the bugs are smaller than helicopters…some are even smaller than shoeboxes. That’s why some of us love summer.

Good luck with the gambling, though…. and try to stay cool!(Yeah yeah…. you’re always cool, Leaky!)

I don’t follow any sports and NOT looking forward to July in Chicago (humidity). I stay indoors whenever it is not great here and LOVE to swim when evenings are hot. Last night and again tonight I will sleep with cross ventilation (no AC) here in Phoenix; I had AC off all day today, with high of 98 F.
