20 bucks an hour, wow!Yesterday’s paper gave the Top Ten salaries in Houston led off by $23MM. Another poor guy had to make do with a 157% pay raise. And these are oil or oil service companies in a time when the energy sector is bleeding money. But I haven’t noticed such largesse going to their hourlies, rather layoffs have been the rule. Makes you wonder.
Ain’t white-collar crime always presented as “more glamorous ’n glitzy” then its counterpart committed down in the trenches, where it stinks and there’s lots of dirt and constant shelling and the dead body or two that you have to hunker next to ’cause its cramped in there, and you have to eat your lunch in there while waiting for the next rounds of shelling, etc. etc? Stealing is stealing!
Here’s an annotated list of executive pay of the top 10 in Houston. There are all oil, oil service, or chemical companies. Compare to your raise and paycheck.Co. A. $27.6MM, +17.5%.Co. B. $24.5MM +23.5%.Co. C. $20.7MM +22.5%.Co. D. $20.5MM -1.5%.Co. E. $18.5MM, -18.9%.Co. F. $17.7MM, +151.1%.Co. Fa (same Co.) $17.6MM, +143.7%.Co.G. $15.2MM, +44.3%.Co. H. $14.7MM, -78.3.Co. I. $14.7MM, +63.6.Rest assured that their medical, dental, and retirement plans have not been affected. And none of them are Independent Contractors with hours set at the whim of a computer program. Harrumph!!
