Was there ever such a thing as this attempted?!?!?! I would think such a monstrosity would be seared into my memory…. but I do not recall it. And, it seems too far-fetched for Julie to just have made up…. it seems like she must have been referencing something akin to this in real life. Anyone know?

Not even for the Pennys, would I be in favor of such an arrogant and over-reaching attempt at “do-gooderism.”
A “nanny-cart” that thinks it knows what’s best for you, and publicly shames you for your choices?
It can take its electronic nose and eyes and shove them…
well…. how about right under its wheels?
We don’t really have to worry about it though…
at least, it wouldn’t be installed by the stores.
They make their money from over-processed self-stable junk food,
pushed by manufacturers with coupons and discounts.
It’s so much easier and more profitable to sell something in a can or box with a jazzy label,
than fresh food that has to be carefully ordered, shipped, refrigerated, and displayed,
with a much shorter shelf life before it develops imperfections or even spoils.
A real store would welcome the Pennys’ overladen cart with open checkout lanes.

Now leave the full cart and go to a competitor’s food mart. You know, the ones who like you spending money there!
