A friend went to The Exorcist when it was first released and had long lines and full theaters. Something about the drama, special effects, and some mood enhancers he may have taken had him laughing so hard he was sliding out of his seat and couldn’t catch his breath. When the movie was over, most of the theater was empty.
The Exorcist on the Comedy Channel would have been ironic back when this first posted. Nowadays it seems anything and everything is shown on any channel.

You could probably make any movie a comedy just by changing the musical score (and maybe adding a laugh track).
