While I doubt L33Tspeak specifically will ever enter common language that extensively (and indeed, evidence shows it’s basically stayed in the realm of the internet and doesn’t show much sign of going beyond it) I do agree with the point that a language, any language, shouldn’t be afraid to change with the times, because the needs and demands of that language are going to change as well, so language still needs to be able to adapt accordingly.
I say this, because I know there are some grammar nazis out there who act like changing even one iota of the English language from what they had been taught before constitutes the destruction of language entirely, somehow…clearly overlooking how much English changed and adapted over time to get to this point in the first place—it makes sense to expect it to continue to do so in the future.
