Dougie’s an American. That radar is permanently wired for full-strength. Just give in and accept it now, or face Sophie’s wrath when Doug gets home and reports in.
Ah, I guess he does considering the temp. Notwithstanding, some adults go shirtless and burn others’ retinas. Wouldn’t happen with Doug. Here in Montreal, it’s a frigid -37 Celsius with the wind chill, which would make it -34.6 Fahrenheit. I envy you your “winter” temps. BAK!
I need to make sure my original weather comment was understood. I live in NC and Brian moved down here from Boston. I know some of you know this but others may not. I was relating our actual weather and saying yes he needed a shirt.
You people do realize that when this strip is included in a book or e-book that people will be reading it during the Spring and Summer, right? Think “long-term”. It won’t always be winter, but Dougie will always be in that cart.

Now as to our shirtless Doug – wasn’t he wearing a shirt when he left home? You know little ones – oops! there goes another sock thrown in the air.
