Sophie: “Anyway, no. I trust them to feed me, and give me snacks, and walkies. When they tell me to get off the sofa or get out of the donuts, I can pretend they’re talking to the cats.”

Bit serious here, but Sophie trusts her humans not to hurt her. It may take a while for the pup to follow.

Our dogs trust us. Whether or not they want their nails cut is an entirely different matter. But they love us all the same because we would never hurt them.

“Trust – but verify”. “Trust in Allah – but tie your camel”. Just a few thoughts from wiser heads…

We’ve brought feral cats off the street. It’s taken as much as a year for them to decide we’re worthy of giving them attention. Mama kitty (we have her 2 kittens as well as her mother) hadn’t ever been inside before we rescued her. Now she snuggles up between my wife’s side & her arm, and will want attention from me while I’m online.

The female of the kittens is the most affectionate girl you could ever want, and grandma is sleeping on laps after about 8 months. She was someone’s little girl once.
