There’s a wonderful outdoor museum in northern England which has a coal mining village in one section. There are dozens of canaries kept in an outdoor cage (in warm weather), and they sound delightful and bring a dash of bright yellow, and you think, “how lovely”, until you realize why the miners would keep dozens of canaries…
