If dogs absorb stress and take it out on squirrels and tearing up the turf digging holes/running/wizzing etc. What do cats do?

They poop it back out in the yard. Really messy (as in poop-covered) back yards mean the owner and pet go through LOTS of stress (and doggy-doo!)
there is something very pleasant about running fingers through warm soft fur. My dogs put up with it but often give me the “why are you touching me” look.
They bark at me for absolutely no reason
