Yetsky: Young man, I would appreciate my speaker's fee before I leave. My expenses, unhappily, have been high. Mike: What? Are you not paid well at home? Yetsky: No. I enjoy no special luxury. You see, I am a poet and socialist. All my "possessions" are spiritual. Mike: That certainly wasn't the impression I got when you drove up to the hall this morning. Yetsky: A tactless reference to my Ferrari, I assume? Mike: Well... yeah.
Because he is a poet and socialist, he spent all his money on his car and has none left to buy food or gas.
