J.J.: Mike why is Reagan even bothering with black voters? He hardly needs them. Mike: Well, Cassie says his people want to broaden his madate....they're also trying to counter a nonpartisan study that's found that blacks of all classes are dramatically worse off as a result of Reagan policies. I'm supposed to come up with a slogan that makes the point that Reagan has ignored all the disadvantaged, not blacks per se. J.J.: "Reagan: He's no racist." Mike: That's just a rough draft. I want to play around with it some more.
