For listeners who don't know I should explain that the word "controversial" is a tobacco industry code word for any widely accepted view that is not in the industry's best interests! For instance, the fact that nicotine is as addictive as heroin is "controversial," right, dad? Phil: Of course. As is the claim that passive smoking is harmful! Mark: And the 390,000 deaths a year? Phil: All of them controversial! Deeply disputed!
