Adviser, voice from white house: Sir, about your guard service... George W. Bush from white house: Stop attacking the guard! I was proud to have served in the Alabama guard for both days! Listen, when I say I've put something behind me, I expect it to stay behind me! I want to know why this national guard story hasn't gone away! Adviser: Well, there are a couple of reasons, sir... it's not just the question of whether you went AWOL... it's also your statement that you "worked it out" with the military to leave six months early to go to Harvard business school. Bush: What's wrong with that? Adviser: Well, it's causing some problems with the guard in Iraq... Soldier: Sir! Request inactive status so I can go to business school! Soldier 2: Oh... hey, yeah, me too!
