We have a casino down the road that is constantly booking bands you didn’t even know were still together. Just a couple of weeks ago they had a double bill, The Zombies & The Yardbirds. You have to search through the line up to see who, if anyone is from the original band.

Reminds me of a Friedman cartoon where a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young revival concert was being billed as “Fat, Bald, Bitter & Angry”

Thats true, But the thing is, those OLD bands can actually play, the “new” bands sample the old bands and feed it into a computer. Some of those bands have the Bass payer as the only player that played on the bands hits (foghat)

In reply to fbjsr, how old are the Beastie Boys again? Not that far off I suggest, and they are still selling out concerts. Sadly apt message to the music industry tho’.

Wow! Music was so much better when you were young and the music loved by young people today is so crappy because they’re too young to know any better!

    Please.

The old acts are filling the stadiums because they were supported by TV and Radio’s advertising monopoly, just as all POP acts are today.

I play a lot of Bach and Pachelbel and Mendelssohn, and I don’t feel anything at all like a legacy act. For one thing, I don’t get paid nearly as much as a cover band.

    fbjsr says:

plus4 is rigth. Does anybody think that in 40 years from now people will be lineing up to see current hip hop/rap “artist” play? Well maybe their cell mates and thats about it.

Geez, I didn’t think that the rappers would all be in jail. Very harsh statement.

Will Smith, Queen Latifah, and Mary J. Blige can do no wrong. But I can’t think of another rapper I’d spend three nanoseconds on.
