Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for October 11, 2009
Transcript:
Hazard: I understand your suspicions of modernity, Akbari, I really do... but couldn't you at least join the 16th Century? So, what've you got for me? Man: Drug lord, a major player. He's challenging my authority here, but I can't touch him. He has connections in Kabul. Hazard: Where's he at? Man: That gray house over there, just beyond the mosque. Noise: Beep! Beep! Beep! WHOOM! Hazard: What else you got? Man: I don't get it - how come you guys are losing?

This is definitely a replay. Saw this one before. Is Doonesbury now trying to sneak in cheap reruns to collect 2 payments for one toon?

Definitely a rerun; but, I still enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Now I won’t have to search the archives since I failed to add it to my collection the first time.

Rerun or not, it’s true and it’s time to bring the troops home. Afghanistan is the graveyard of Empires. We NEED to get the hell out of dodge, and get on with fixing the wreckage that was the bush admin.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
The USA has no business doing nation building. It doesn’t work, especially in places like Afghanistan - and Iraq! - where things have been like they are for over 5000 years - 5000 YEARS!!!
I’m a Vietnam veteran - I know it is useless.
I also believe the USA should pull out of all countries around the world. We have enough problems here at home to keep us busy for the next 50 years.
Let someone else worry about the mid east and spend themselves dearly for people who will end up hating them for it.
As for fixing the wreckage of the Bush administration, I would rather that Obama concentrate on avoiding creating his own wreckage, which he is unfortunately blithely going about right now.

Charlie Wilson’s War had it right–for lack of a million because of near sighted congressmen , there we still are.
jpozenel about 15 years ago
Why? Because we’re outnumbered in a foreign land?
pearlandpeach about 15 years ago
Because congess would not spend the extra millon on education in Afghanistan, we lost the headway we had made supplying arms…..

Timeline: Number of troops in Afghanistan proportional to incidents of insurgency. Cause Effect? Are we the problem or are we the solution?

The neocons even accuse some of the ultra-conservative Republicans of being the liberal left ….only because those ultra-conservatives actually have an education.

This one is hilarious This one is spot on This one is salient This one they can repeat every 3 months if they want. The right wing is never going to learn
