Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for October 22, 2010
Transcript:
Jeff: Mr. President, what will it take to carve out an exception to your ban on foreign contractors? Hamid Karzai: Sorkh Razil, I respect you for bringing justice to the countryside, but my position is immutable. This is not a negotiation. Jeff: Pity. I was going to suggest $50 million. Karzai: Okay, not it's a negotiation. Jeff: Well, I sensed it might be.
I know that Mr. Trudeau writes these 2 weeks in advance, but sometimes he times them perfectly nonetheless. Did you all hear today that Mr. Karzai has just extended the deadline for military contractors by another 2 months? Apparently he was forced to admit the reality, that the country will collapse without them.
