I’m having a technical problem here on GoComics: my avatar no longer appears, only an image placeholder tag. Some other people’s avatars also show the same thing, at least to me. The problem isn’t with my browser; the same thing happens in different browsers, on different computers. Any ideas about what’s going on, and how to fix it? Thanks.

Justice, was that from “Kelly’s Heros”? I think in this case it’s more likely that the helicopter loudspeakers are playing the “Benny Hill Show” theme.

A number of us who had no previous problems with our avs now do. I just deleted mine and will try again in a couple days.

Thanks, jmd4lsu. But the avatar still won’t display, even when I use an image smaller than I used for my previous avatar…and that won’t display now either. (For that matter, your avatar isn’t displaying for me.)

BTW, I’ve also tried different image file types: JPG, PNG, GIF — no joy. This is starting to bug me.

Yeah, I suspected this was happening because of larger images and I uploaded a large image to try to prove that. Now my old one won’t display no matter no small I reduce it.

E-mailing tech support….

Nothing like flying into a newly-established NO-FLY ZONE to add danger, suspense and intrigue to what is already a suicide mission.

I’m guessing they didn’t get the memo, right?

It’s affecting some of us, but not all. It may have to do with making any change to your avatar, which causes no avatar image to display. I’ve asked GoComics tech support about this — I hope they respond.

I love my avatar. One of my niece’s (10 years old) pet rabbits pretending to be a flower while his buddy looks for him. It took me and my niece 4 tries to get the photo small enough to post.

Someone posted recently that when a commenter changes his/her avatar, the new one doesn’t post and the old one is lost. Those of you who are having trouble, did you recently try to change? I’ve never gotten an avatar to post at all although many have tried to walk me through the procedure.

Jeff is one of Doonesbury’s most tiresome characters. Perhaps G.B. Trudeau could be serious, and we could have him die in this foolish venture.

I’d hate to do it to Rick & Joanie, but their son is a loser. Either kill him or hurt him so badly that he grows up.

There’s an interesting piece to write about this second generation of Doonesbury: Alex, Sam, Zipper, Jeff, Earl, Leo, & Melissa. Have I left out anyone?

Justice, I don’t think that the Obama announcement is part of the strategy… I think that it merely signifies that the Rascal is flying into a world full of hurt. There would be some justice if his chopper was shot down by the USAF, considering his own shooting down of a friendly chopper previously.

I doubt that anyone has yet clued into who my avatar is, but so far, it seems to be unaffected.

Too bad GBT and others don’t understand what you need to do to make a no-fly zone: Bomb radars and AA sites first, which then turns into an act of war, and then move hardware into nearby bases.

the Obama announcement about the no-fly zone is an eerie coincidence…Trudeau doesn’t write these strips on the fly; it’s done in advance.

I seriously don’t know why people keep going on about their avatars. They’re so freaking small I can’t see ANY of them anyway! They’re meaningless blobs to me.

It wasn’t after we got back from Vietnam and got out that many of us (still not all have got the memo) just how badly we were lied to and ripped off.

This modern warfare starts with severe controls/restrictions on information and news (like embedding), which has corrupted the news media.

Q: Why ever else would they have deliberately bombed Al Jazeera, when they knew just where they were?

A: They weren’t under the same controls.
