Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for December 06, 2013
Transcript:
Alex: Sounds like you might be underemployed, too, Mia... Mia: Isn't everyone? I'm only part-time at my lab now, so I've been doing nanny gigs to make my rent... Alex: So do you know a lot about child care? Mia: A lot? The only think I know a lot about is single-cell life forms! Alex: Close enough. Twins: Hey! Nice, mom!

I bet the girl in the red beret knows more about taking care of kids.

Well, at least she didn’t say they belong in other peoples’ houses, or little green bottles full of alcohol. (My view until we had our own. They grow on you.)

Better look at some more candidates, Alex.

Jealousy makes for difficult relationships. Even more so when the emotion is founded on facts.

“Politically correct” – anything a liberal doesn’t like.As we all know, nothing bothers conservatives and there are no subjects that they can brook no argument on, hence no political correctness. They’re all about freedom of speech. Aren’t they?

If Mia is a microbiologist, she’s probably pretty smart and responsible. She’ll do fine with the babies (although with some hurdles to figure out along the way). They’ll be looking into microscopes and growing bacterial cultures by age 1, which is what Alex would want with her kids anyway.

Employment problem? What employment problem? Haven’t you heard? Official unemployemt is way down and everything is going to be just fine. Don’t even think about overthrowing capitalism!

There’s no point in replying to rpmurray. If you look back, you’ll see she drops in fairly early each day, makes a short comment that is only tangentially to do with the strip or other comments, but which is designed to get a response, and then takes no further part in discussion. As a lesson in how to troll, it’s a master class

Zoom out for this one: In 5 years, 9 Chickweed Lane (by Brooke McEldowney) will be the next Doonsbury. You heard it from me first, folks. Trudeau’s not the only genius on the block…

Wow, Trudeau takes another shot at Obama, ‘underemployed’.
