DO remember the month, not the day, but the ‘strip’ from the local paper which had converted it to the Editorial Page while waiting for “them” to fix my ‘factory-off’ ’85 CrownVic to road-worthy condition. I shulda waited a lot longer. A 3-mile uphill and downhill walk was a lot more strenuous than it was as a PFC.It turned out well after being picked up by a bunch of NYS Reserves on their way to Camp Drum (10th Mountain) and we traded hints on how to drive a deuce and a half and little did I know that most of them guys on the bed of that truck would be dead in just a few years. Just a moment in history.
