Curtis: Yup, the old man's dead, all right. Honey: Are... are you sure, Curtis? Curtis: Positive, but I'm just a second-year student. You need an actual doctor to pronounce him dead. Ask Dr. Janata. Honey: Dr. Janata lost his license years ago. Curtis: Oh. How about Dr. Von Wick? Or Dr. Kincaid? Honey: Dr. Von Wick is a parapsychologist. Kincaid is a former pro-hockey trainer. Curtis: Aren't there any real doctors at this med school? Honey: We've never needed one before.
Thinking back to that time, I recall that Reagan had just sent troops to make Grenada safe for American medical students. (And because he felt we needed a military victory after the trauma of losing in Viet Nam, going through Watergate, and the Iran hostage crisis.) It took a week or so of heavy fighting against rock-throwing insurgents to advance a mile and secure the medical school. They passed out a lot of medals afterward.
