The way the media is covering this story, they make it seem like it was Joe who is the perp. They are not telling the whole story.

He’s more powerful than the university president. If he had led, they would have followed.

“He is more powerful than the AD”? Yes, he is. He is Penn State. Pure and simple, right or wrong, that’s the way it is for the majority of people in PA.

You know, if they had done the right thing years ago, none of this would be happening now, and all those victims wouldn’t have been victims. I wonder it that haunts Joe and the others? And the name Penn State would not be forever bescmirched.

No, just the ones who have cults of personality surrounding them. Paterno is—or should I say, WAS—one. Bear Bryant was one in Alabama. David Bailiff, not so much.

Winning head coaches draw alumni $, as do legacy admissions. Exposing sex scandals doesn’t.Advertising $ is also a major factor.

I hope the alumni boycott Penn State in all shapes and forms, from dollar donations to the colleges, to boycotting the sports programs, as unfair as that is to the Lady Lions and the boys on the football team. However, a message needs to be sent, and getting rid of Spanier and JoePa doesn’t quite cut it, Yeah, it helps but much much more needs to be done! MUCH MORE! All these people yesterday were buying tickets for as much as $300. because they thought this would be Joe’s last game at home. I wonder now it they could even give those tickets away? Oh I suppose some would take them.

“sniff” I’ve missed you, Drew. I just discovered this site and I miss the days when the second thing I turned to in the Rocky Mountain News was your comic. (Comics were always first).

Anyone who saw what was going on, and did not stop it immediately AND report it to police within 5 minutes, aided and abbetted on going rapes of children. All should be prosecuted appropriately. Any abuse after the fist rape was enabled by them…By not taking the rapes seriously, Paterno and the the others are as guilty of those rapes as the actual rapist is…. hope they never ever sleep well at night for the rest of their lives…

No, my kneejerking friend, I’m simply pointing out what happens when a coach ceases to be simply an employee of the college and transcends the university that signs his (or her, in Pat Summitt’s case) paycheck. A cult of personality develops around that coach, to the point where the college becomes “X College, where Y Coach is,” rather than “Y Coach, the coach at X college.”.They still serve at the pleasure of the college, but no college president in their right mind is going to fire that coach unless he’s actually caught burying the bodies in his backyard..As for why I picked Bryant, he was the first “legendary” football coach who came to mind.
