to truly separate church and state wouldn’t you have to rewrite most of the documents written by those who fought and died for our freedom? I mean heck if you feel that strongly about you might want to burn all your money.
“Separation of Church and State” is not found anywhere in the U.S. Constitution. I believe the founding fathers did not want a state-run church like the Church of England, because they wanted everyone to be able to worship according to their own beliefs. That said, they did not want to remove Christianity from goverment, on the contrary, there are many documents/events where they insisted it be included.
Isn’t it that He would rise on the “third day?” You start to count with “one” not “zero.” (Otherwise, we’d count our toes zero through nine instead of one through ten.) So – Friday was the first day, Saturday the second day, Sunday the third day.
EMET, you first consider “3 days & 3 nights” as idiom for “3 calendar-days”, but use Jewish rather than conventional (as of now) calendar-days. After that quite simple.
Jesus was arrested between dusk Thursday and sunrise Friday and crucified Friday before dusk (1 day + 1 night)
buried shortly before dusk Friday, tomb undisturbed till Sunday morning (1 day + 2 nights)
rose Sunday morning after sunrise (1 day)
Prayer in school is fine, as long as every religion represented by a student teacher of faculty member is given equal time. And those that don’t care are free to busy themselves in other ways. Of course, then classes will have to be shortened to accommodate, thus proving religion destroys education. Education is the whole point of school. Thus, separation of church and state is required, and why we have to eliminate prayers in school. Too keep religion from making us stupid.
EMET, my avatar is Danai from “Non Sequitur.” One of those Sunday strips that’s still hanging from my bulletin board parodies the creation story, but the Creator is a horse. “Watch where you step at the pearly gates” is the punchline. (Helmet Head is what the horse calls Danai, btw. I own a horse, and never ride without a helmet.)
When a math exam in an inappropriate setting is in any way remotely similiar to communication with one’s Heavenly Father, regardless of where it is, there might have a bit of grounding for this argument.

The simple answer: so long as schools hold exams, there will be prayers (ok, lotsa them presumptuously hoping to pass without studying, but….).

Here’s a thought: Science test in church. What better way to separate superstition and governance, and avoid inquisitions.

Ergo, 3 days and 3 nights.
